When did it get to be Wednesday already? The last couple of days just all blended together and felt like one big long day.
Today is cleanup day for me; got to get the yard clean enough for the animals to be safe, there’s about an eighth of an inch of ash covering everything. Get food out for the birds in the area. They are all suffering from the smoky air. Clean up around my neighbor’s house and make sure her cats are ok. We bugged out with one of them but couldn’t catch the other one – left it food and water which was eaten so it is around somewhere, just gone feral. Her other cat is in my son’s bedroom, he’s really taken to the calico snuggly girl. My neighbor was shocked that the cat wants to be cuddled so I guess the cat must be pretty freaked out in her own way.
We’re all pretty freaked out but the community effort in the county has been amazing. Like the Cedar fire this Witch Creek, or Witch Fire as it’s getting called, is pulling us together again too.
There is no area of the county that has not been affected, we’ve had so many fires going in so many areas. There are still fires going today – the latest on the Camp Pendleton Marine base which has closed I5 this morning. Just now starting to get it open again. I 5 and I 15 are the main arteries into San Diego from the north and now both have been closed at some point by fire. Many businesses are still closed; Sony where Tom works will not fully open til next week, although many of his group are floating in and out or using the building as a safe place since they don’t have air conditioning and have asthma problems.
Well right now I need to go fill the bird feeders, several guests are looking for food….

Glad you’re back and safe.
Don’t know if this is helpful to you, but Bryan @ WhyNow? had some advice on clean-up of wood ash.
