Surprise

Heh. I was using my wonderful Dr. Ph. Martin’s watercolor drops when one got plugged up and then had a blowout onto the paper. Well, it’s watercolor, you gotta go with the flow and all that. That’s why I chose to do watercolor work this year, after all. When I work with acrylics or with oils, I can always go back and rework things. With watercolor, you don’t really get that options, unless you use gouache, which I also do. But still, it isn’t really ever the same. The wonderful transparency of watercolors is lost on gouache. So, I guess today is just about surprise, and we’ll have to see what it brings. I’m just lucky I didn’t douse my tablecloth in this lovely iphthalo blue. Yes, I’m one of those unfortunates with no studio, so I work at my kitchen table. As Julia says, lack of studio is no excuse for not doing art!

The “studio”:

So here is what my little burst of color became, a lovely blue dahlia!

  1. What a gorgeous “mistake,” proving there is no such thing as a mistake. This reminds me of my Buddha Board, a gift from one of my sons. You write on it with a brush and then it disappears. As I left for work today I wrote, “Be Mindful.” It had probably disappeared before the car pulled out of the driveway, but it’s imprinted on my mind.

Thanks for visiting Sacred Ordinary. Glad to find yet another Library Child.
