HEMA is a Dutch department store which first opened in 1926 in Amsterdam. It now has 150 stores all over the Netherlands.
Take a look at HEMA’s product page. You can’t order anything, and it’s in Dutch, but just wait a couple moments and watch what happens. Don’t’ click on any of the products pictured, just wait and see what happens….and be sure to have your sound turned up.
This company has a sense of humor and a great computer programmer.

150 stores in the Netherlands! You must be able to see the next one as you exit the one you just visited!
In a country as small as the Netherlands, and with 150 stores, wouldn’t anyone exiting one of them be able to see another?
The animation effects and such were cute.
That was hilarious. Do you think people are more prone to buy when entertained this way? I was particularly intrigued that the politically incorrect term (where I live), “ghetto blaster” seems okay in Netherlands. We call it a “boom box.”
now THAT’s an example of great website design!
