Go ahead and sue me, dickheads.
rough rhodes ahead for randi
looks like she’s going to go to court…
government contractor caci international inc. has won bankruptcy court approval to proceed with its defamation lawsuit against liberal talk radio network air america and one of its hosts, randi rhodes.
…the company sued air america and its parent company, piquant llc, as well as rhodes in the fall of 2005 for defamation. the suit stemmed from comments rhodes made aug. 25-26, 2005 on her radio show. according to caco’s complaint, she accused caci employees of raping and murdering iraqi civilians at abu ghraib prison, claims that caci said were “false and defamatory.”
caci is seeking $1 million in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages. a phone call to air america seeking comment was not immediately returned. – ap
oh…and what was randi’s “defamation” of caci?
the supposed defamation? rhodes read a portion of an interview with janice karpinski, the former brigadier general who commanded the mps at abu ghraib. – alternet
apparently they go after anyone who writes about this suit…
then a blogger at blogcritics got the “caci treatment” for reporting on the air america suit, as did the online media watchdog newsbusters. when david rubenstein, a columnist for the alternative paper pulse of the twin cities, wrote an article about former minnesota congresman vin weber that mentioned caci, it triggered, as rubenstein would later recall, “a bombastic two-page single-spaced letter” from london with a “wholesale attack on my credibility.” – alternet
robert greenwald called caci “bullies”. and there seems to be some graphic detail on caci employees “bullying” from general major taguba’s report on abu ghraib. and, amongst all this chaos, caci seem to be making “quite the killing” in the profits department.
caci posted a $45 million profit in 2003, up from $30 million the previous year. – center for public integrity
nice to have friends high up in the administration….hmmm…and making humungous profits during wartime. some people have a word for that. the word i will use is “wrong.”
