Pain in the Ass (Yeah, you may want to skip this one…)

OK, so in my case, this is literally true this week. I had some minor surgery Monday to get rid of some abnormal cells in the anal/rectal area. My reason for posting about this today, after four days of pain ranging from moderate to intense, is because what keeps going through my mind are all the comments the idiot Republicans made about anal assaults being simply “fraternity pranks” and not torture.

Kids, this is torture. Even knowing how much this surgery would hurt, it simply didn’t occur to me that it would hurt continuously for days on end. I’ve had surgeries before, and usually, the drugs are pretty good, and can do a fine job of knocking out pain most of the time. With this, everything hurts. Sitting, standing, movement of any kind, lying down, it doesn’t really matter.

If anyone, anyone, ever tells you that this kind of assault isn’t painful torture, please – kick them in the balls for me. While their pain will be brief in comparison, it will make me feel so much better.

Thanks.

  1. Donna…so sorry you are in such pain…what a horrible experience! About the ball kicking…line ’em up. I’ll put my nastiest workboots on for the occassion. Hope you are up and sitting soon (yes, I meant “sitting”…)

  2. wish i had something truly light to send you, donna. and there’s nothing distracting when you’e in so much pain. 1930s movies, repeats of jon stewart shows–i’ll keep you in my thoughts. yours, naomi

  3. I’m so sorry that you are going through this. Although, I am certain that you chose it because to not have the surgery would have been worse. Which is not true for torture victims, for whom there is only the pain.

Kicking them in the balls can only happen if they have balls, and I think that people who make light of other people’s pain don’t.

  4. Yes, Maya’s Granny, when the alternative is to have it develop into cancer, I think this was the better opition.

I am much better today, fortunately. I think yesterday alll the nerves must have reconnected.

My mom died from complications from diverticulitis, my aunt had surgery for it also, and my grandmother died from ulcerative colitis. So I got my colonoscopy this year and they found this abnormal tissue, so out it went. I know something will get me eventually, but if you know you’re at risk and don’t do something, then you’re giving up responsibility and I won’t do that.
