“Wake Me Up When September Ends”
Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends
like my fathers come to pass
seven years has gone so fast
wake me up when september ends
here comes the rain again
as my memory rests
summer has come and passed
ring out the bells again
here comes the rain again
as my memory rests
Summer has come and passed
like my father’s come to pass — Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends
the innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends
like we did when spring began
wake me up when september ends
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends
The innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends
twenty years has gone so fast
wake me up when september ends
wake me up when september ends
wake me up when september ends…

So, Donna, didja watch Countdown last night? Mr. Olbermann, reporting from The Pit (like many news folks did) dropped the bomb on our drear Emperor Shrub, our o’er-esteemed Commander-In-Chimp. Iffin’ you don’t suffer severe “denial of service” hassles (like I am, which is why I’m responding to you HERE), try surfing over to MSNBC.com and view his comments. It was particularly nice that he dropped the bomb on our Monkey King just before Dubya gave his purportedly “not political” fifth anniversary address, too…
I grew up in New Jersey, just 45 minutes from NYC. So my memories of the city’s skyline are without the Twin Towers, with the Twin Towers, and again without the Twin Towers.
Two weeks at Somerset, most in a National Guard armory converted into a morgue.
The Great Race here in Pittsburgh, run wearing a “Caretaker of Heroes” shirt and a “Flight 93” ballcap.
Running along I80 carrying a flag — same shirt and cap.
New York went on, but I was never sent to New York.
You are so right.
